Dev  and  Maya  and kabhi alvida na kehna?

What does this Karan Joker do? It seems that his star cast never changes; does he travel in an RV with them? And why does he churn out K kind of movies?

Between Harry met Sally and Kramer versus Kramer many Hindi movies have tried to explore the nuances of infidelity, friendship and trust, but none have come anywhere near these two great movies of our times.. Harry and Sally jaise koi banhi nahi sakthe  kya?

So Mr Dev meets the forlorn disturbed Maya on a bench out side a huge mansion, she is about to be married, but she isnt sure why she has agreed to marry, what beholds her futureI think the most brilliant conversation between Maya and Dev happens now.

Maya gets married, Dev loses his taang, devs biwi is high profile career woman who doesnt much care about Dev's football fetish.

Maya suddenly finds herself with a husband who parties all night and doesnt much care about how she would like to spend her vacations.

The disparity is the undercurrent; Dev is now a langda who is silently seething in jealousy and bitterness regarding his wifes career. Maya who cannot have children secretly hates her boyish, funny, Casanova sort of husband - Rishi.

While Dev and Maya come across as possessive, intense and more of loners, Rishi and Rhea are both successful, head on the shoulders, matured dependable characters.

Though Devs marriage seems to be okay, Mayas marriage seems to have all sorts of

Teething problems, they just seem so different from each otherand as the movie progress, we even wonder whether Rishi married Maya because she was the homely kind?

It becomes obvious that he followed whats written as a golden rule, women who party wont make good housewives or else why in the world would he choose some one who is as tepid and lifeless as Maya!

Didnt he know after 5 years of courting that she hates parties?

Now Maya is also unable to have children, she feels guilty and inadequate

She meets Dev in a Bizarre out of the world situation and quickly they become old friendsand eventually lovers and later married couples..

So what happens in between?

There are two spouses who love these two friends hai ke nahi?

Rishi and Rhea, Rishi played by Abhishekh Bacchan and Rhea by pesky Preity whatever happens to them?well let me build some suspense dudes,,,

Actually Dev and Maya find each others inadequacies very enticing and start sleeping around without the knowledge of each others spouses. I guess for Dev and Maya- Rishi and Rhea are about perfection, and like two little infants they rebel and run away from their respective relationships and find solace in each other.

The whole thing about this movie is about honesty, I feel the only two grown up strong people in this movie are Rhea and Rishi, and it almost hurts to see them misused by the two antagonists in the movie, so much so -audience in the theater become delirious when Rhea slaps Dev after the confession and a loud round of applause follows

Though Rani and Sharukh make soulful attempt to make each others marriage work, they fail time and again...bad timing? *WINK

This movie doesnt talk about ugly affairs and bad divorces, people who watch this movie should think that love affairs and divorces are such cake walk, everything looks perfect about this script, locales, people and situations as if its beautiful fairy tale with  angels in it.

Actually audience sympathies with Rishi and Rhea so much it almost irks them to watch the entire nonsense with Dev and Maya, they even feel repulsed and morose, the movie should have ended when the divorce happens without Dev and Maya ever living together

Maybe then it would generate some emotions for the couple in question..but .by the end of the last reel we are too tiered to empathies with them, we sigh and say

 * whatever

Yes ss,Karan wanted to make a movie on Extramarital affair, but one wonders whether he could justify the same? Or did he want to?

Abhishekh as Rishi  has come of age whether he is funny or copiously shedding tears like a sissy ...he looks perfect, awesome. Preity with her slightly vamp-ish, arched eyebrows adds sizzle to her character, she looks tough, confident and no nonsense and u start falling in love with her easily

Amitabh adds oomph and sex and looks suave in his naughty role, and Kiran  Kher is lately becoming the other women to all the handsome romantic old men on the loose. It seems now she likes to play no strings attached which can actually tug a few unattached hearts

Rani deserves an Oscar, her face meticulously calculates every ounce of pathos and brings it to a perfect frame Sharukh looks tiered of playing the lover boy he needs a vacation, he looks better while crying rather than when he is laughing.

The cutest of all was Sharukhs little sonhe just stole my heart!

The movie is too long, too rich and too talented..

Over all I would want to watch it again
